Quagga Rachel

Hello Rachel

While 12 August 1883 marks the day the last Quagga died in an Amsterdam zoo, 12 August 2018 – 135 years later – is a day for celebration! Our latest Quagga foal “Rachel” was born and is in excellent health. Rachel is a welcome addition to the Quagga Project and a valuable contribution to growing numbers of Rau Quagga. Rachel is pictured here with her mother, Sonja, at one of the several properties in South Africa involved in the rebreeding programme.
